Making chocolate-covered Oreo party favors is a simple yet delightful treat perfect for any occasion. All of your guests will enjoy this delicious and unique favor at your next party! This step-by-step guide will walk through the process to ensure beautiful, delicious results every time.
Bride and groom chocolate-covered Oreos make wonderful bridal shower favors or wedding favors. Spinning Leaf, one of the more popular Oreo mold companies, also has molds with many, many other designs--birthdays, graduations, holidays (including Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Halloween), religious milestones--you name it, they have it.
In addition to the bride and groom chocolate-covered Oreo mold perfect for wedding and shower favors, you could also use the Spinning Leaf "thank you" chocolate-covered Oreo mold for favors for just about anything, from weddings to parties to showers.
Ingredients & Supplies for Chocolate-Covered Oreo Party Favors:
Toppings like sprinkles, crushed candy, or edible glitter (optional)
Treat bags or an air-tight container for storage
Instructions:
Heat the Candy Melts: Fill a small, microwave-safe bowl with candy melts. Follow the instructions on the package to melt them in your microwave. With Wilton melts, you need to first microwave the candy for one minute, and then stir with a spoon and melt in 30-second increments as needed. If you overheat the candy melts, they will harden and burn. Always stir thoroughly between heatings. You would be surprised how effective stirring can be at helping to soften the chocolate. It needs less heat time than you might assume.
Add the Chocolate to the Mold: Fill a cavity in your Oreo mold about halfway with the melted chocolate. Press an Oreo firmly into the chocolate. Spoon additional chocolate into the cavity. Gently bang the mold against the counter or table to settle the chocolate. Do this until the chocolate appears smooth.
Add Toppings: While the chocolate is still wet, sprinkle your desired toppings over the Oreos. Toppings like sprinkles, edible glitter, or crushed candy can add both flavor and decoration. Alternatively, leave them plain for a more classic look. (Note that this will mean decorations on the bottom of your cookie if you are using a Spinning leaf mold. If your mold is generic, with no top decoration or shape, this won't matter. Otherwise, your decorations might look a bit strange on the bottom.)
Let the Chocolate Set: Once you have filled all of the cavities in your mold, let the chocolate set for about twenty minutes. As soon as it has cooled, place the mold in your refrigerator for about thirty minutes. Then, remove the mold and press gently on the top of each cavity (where the design is) to pop out the Oreos. Ideally, you'd pop them out onto something clean, like wax paper or parchment paper. Voila! Delicious, tasty treats to enjoy or share!
Additional Tips:
Use different types of chocolate (white, milk, dark) for variety.
For a festive touch, drizzle contrasting chocolate over the top of the covered Oreos.
Store the finished cookies in an airtight container or put them directly into party treat bags to maintain freshness.
